Check out FB for latest updates!

January 10, 2012

Sorry but I have been really lagging behind in updating my blogsite. Since my last post I’ve had the opportunity to photo shoot many more birthdays, take a few outdoor on-location shoots and do a lot of sessions in my newly launched indoor studio :) .  It has been a mad rush in the last two months of 2011 but thanks to all who have trusted me to take your photos, and to those that visit my website!  I am blessed to have been busy on the photo front and additionally, look who’s been keeping me ultra busy!! Please check out my facebook page for my most recent photoshoots and captures!

Collective shoot series – Take 1 photos

October 31, 2011

Been meaning to publish photos from the launch of my Collective Shoot Series. Big guy up there is looking down on me as the weather was once again, perfect, even though it had been a rainy week. It was great meeting so many of you, I hope you enjoyed the quick and brief session, and more importantly the photos! I was pooped by the end of the day but very pleased with the outcome. Thanks so much for your support! Looking back at the pictures I am reminded why I ventured into family and children photography :) .

Collective shoot series – Take 2

October 21, 2011

Yay! I have finally sorted out a indoor home studio, and to celebrate this milestone, I will be coinciding it with Collective Shoot Series – Take 2, this coming November.  Wondering ‘What is it?’, ‘Why do it?’ please read on here to find out what the Collective Shoot Series is about!

This time I am running shoots on November 13 & 20 (Sundays), and 21 (Monday) in the afternoon – multiple dates cos I can’t take so many at once, given limited space indoors. And I’ve also timed it with the school holidays!  The home studio is of plain, white background, and for those that are interested, there is an optional Christmas theme available… have a peek at the photos below.  ‘Tis the season to be jolly :) Please contact me if interested or for more details.

Rachel’s 1st birthday

October 21, 2011

Catching up on my recent shoots, so you’ll be seeing a flurry of blogposts in the next few days. First off, Baby Rachel turned 1 recently. I was a little bit anxious at first to leave my two little bubs at home for the evening, but I’m glad I did it – I was was really honoured to be part of such a momentous occasion. Happy birthday Rachel!!

Lilian’s family

September 22, 2011

This is exactly why I set up on facebook - this family shoot was taken almost 2 months ago and the entry has finally only now made it to this website :) . I had a “big” shoot that day – “big” in the sense that it was a family of 4 children!  Imagine holding the attention of one child, this time it’s holding the attention of a toddler and two children under 12 who are very active, and one young teenager who’s slightly camera-shy!! But it all turned out in the end, here are some photos to show how eventful the day was. Lilian, it was a pleasure meeting you and your family!

Yay! Last burst of energy for the day!

Collective shoot series

August 26, 2011

Hello, welcome to the first of my collective shoot series!

What is it? The collective shoot series is a day when I do multiple bookings at a pre-determined time and place. Each booking is provided a time slot for your family shoot.

Why do it? For me: It is a lot more productive for me this way. It has gotten more difficult for me to leave two little ones behind, so, for the time my two little precious are being cared for by my mom, I get to do multiple shoots for the period of time it normally takes to do one shoot. Also, I get to choose and (to some little extent) control the environment. For you: it works out to be considerably cheaper than the standard packages offered. Ideal if you are only looking for a few shots and have only a little time to spare!

So there you have it. The Collective Shoot Series – Take 1 will be held outdoors on Saturday, 24 September, 330-630pm** at Sutera Harbour. Please contact me if interested or for more details.

**[9/9/11] I have moved the slots to 3-6pm cos it’s starting to get darker earlier than expected!

We’re finally on facebook!

August 23, 2011

I procrastinated a while before I set up InspiredbyGavin on FB. Busy with my two little precious, I hardly have time to update my blogsite let alone maintain something on FB, but I did it finally. And now, 3 weeks in, 85 fans later and with lots of encouraging words from friends and fans, I’m really pleased we’re on FB and I remind myself why I did:

1. It’s so much easier to reach out to people, everyone is on FB these days! Plus, its alot more interactive.

2. Updates are so much quicker and easier to get out. I used to (and still do) take a while to update my blogsite. With only a few minutes here and there it’s so much easier to write 1-2 sentences on FB :) . And uploading photos are sooo much easier.

3. All hip businesses / hip aspiring businesses are on FB these days! Follow us!

Cynthia’s maternity & family shoot – Part II

July 22, 2011

Cynthia had requested some poolside shots and so we continued the morning shoot some 5 hours later at this poolside with a great view. And yay! – we were blessed that day with good weather and a nice sunset. Luckily enough the property did not have a lot of occupants yet, so we were able to fully utilise the location without a lot of ‘unwanted’ subjects roaming around the background :) .

Here's the gorgeous mummy again...

...she manages to look good all the time, even being 38 weeks pregnant and on a swing!!

Makelle having fun on the playground.

You guys were so sporting - thank you for helping me create the opportunity for such photos!

Family photo on an extended balcony, overlooking Likas Bay. The blue mosque of KK is in the distant blurry background. Pity Mt. Kinabalu decided not to appear that day!

Lucky enough to have a nice, not-too-harsh sunset. So we quickly snap a few just as the sun was about to set behind the island.

Cynthia with her little one...

... and one more shot for the family. Cynthia, it was real pleasure to meet and take photos of your family!

Cynthia’s maternity & family shoot – Part I

July 20, 2011

I met Cynthia through Gavin’s playgroup, and came to know of her interest in taking some photos during my 1-month post-delivery confinement. I was really looking forward to photographing Cynthia, who was 38 weeks along and expecting anytime: (1) I would very much have liked to help her capture her maternity and family photos before her baby arrives, (2) I would get to take the maternity photos I wanted to take of myself, but impossible to compose if I’m not behind the viewfinder, and (3) I was itching to get out from my confinement :) . Here are some photos to share, I struggled to select these as there were so many to choose from. I was greatly helped by a gorgeous mummy and her beautiful family.

We start off with photos of the lovely couple...

... while the little one warms up to the camera!

Hello, when did you say you were arriving again?

Makelle's warmed up now. Kisses for mummy!

Then we move on to solos.

Didn't I say she was a gorgeous mummy?

Looking radiant...

... and a beautiful family too.

Next time you'll have to balance two, daddy!

Kisses for the little one to end the morning session.

Yummy Mummy fashion show

July 18, 2011

I helped to photograph a ”Yummy Mummy” fashion show which was part of a larger programme for a 2011 Baby Contest in conjunction with the 100th year International Women’s Day Celebration & International Breast Feeding Week. It’s a bit different from my interest in photographing children and families, but it’s in support of breastfeeding and breastfeeding in style, so I’m all for it!

Nursing tops are from this one-stop maternity shop called Happy Mums in Kota Kinabalu (except for the bottom right which isn’t a nursing top but a photo of the emcee!) and the yummy mummy models wearing these tops photographed below are from this happening group called KK Mommies on facebook.

And of course I couldn’t resist taking photos of mommies bonding with their little ones, here’s my favourite that day:
